Pharmapod adds another Training Institution to its Learning Community

Pharmapod is delighted to announce the addition of another training institution to its learning community. A new system has been introduced at Institute of Technology Carlow that will see the Incident Management and Learning System integrated within the Pharmacy Technician syllabus for the current academic year.

Pharmapod will provide Institute of Technology Carlow students with the latest innovation in recording, reviewing and analysing medical error data and provide hands-on experience with the technology that is fast becoming the industry standard in pharmacy practice. The agreement aims to maximise dispensing performance for Institute of Technology Carlow’s pharmacy technician students and ultimately inform their practice as pharmacy technicians of the future.

Pharmapod’s mission is to prevent medical errors by implementing the Pharmapod system in universities and training institutions. The importance of recording errors that occur, and analysing said errors to ensure they don’t reoccur, will be instilled in students, thus developing a safety culture from the off-set.

‘It is important for all healthcare professionals to be aware of how to manage medication incidents and we are delighted at Institute of Technology Carlow to be able to provide our students with access to Pharmapod. Pharmacy Technician students will now be able to learn how to report and manage a dispensing error in a safe learning environment and will also benefit from the opportunity to design and implement SOPs for the mock dispensary using Pharmapod’ –Nicola Cantwell,Work Placement Coordinator on the Pharmacy Technician Course in IT Carlow
