Pharmapod’s Pharmacy Assessment Tool

As we enter into the August, pharmacists across Ireland are beginning their preparations to fill out the Pharmacy Assessment System for the second half of 2018.

The Pharmacy Assessment System is a self-audit tool for pharmacies. It provides a practical way for the supervising pharmacist, superintendent pharmacist and pharmacy owner(s), in conjunction with their pharmacy team, to critically review their pharmacy’s practice, validate and record good practice and identify areas where improvements are required. Since it’s creation in January 2017, Supervising pharmacists have been required to complete each section of the Pharmacy Assessment System every six months.

The six assessment sections are as follows
1) Management and Supervision
2) Sale and Supply of Non-Prescription Medicines
3) Sale and Supply of Prescription Medicines
4) Documentation and Record Keeping
5) Premises, Equipment and Storage
6) Supply of Medicines to Patients in Residential Care Settings

The six sections are measured by four levels, which are

  1. Compliance
  2. Mostly Compliant
  3. Partially Compliant
  4. Non Compliant

Also, if particular stages are completed the compliance dashboard shows what their compliance level is.  The Action Plans tab allows users to upload a specific and unique action plan whilst also tracking their completion rate with regard to each of the six sections. Putting an action plan in place can help you this coming half of the year to submit all six sections of the assessment in good time.
